Iphone Apps Crashing On Startup

Sims 3 for iPhone & iPod Touch crashes on startup?
I play sims 3 on my ipod touch nearly every day and this morning I went to play it and it keeps crashing when i start it up. I have tried respringing and restarting my ipod multiple times but no luck, all my other apps working and i havent done anything to my ipod since i last played. my brother bought the app so i cant easily get it back. if i do reinstall it will it delete all my characters?
I think it is because your ipod is not powerful enough to play this game.
