Iphone Apps Weight Watchers

Teenage girls and diets go hand in hand, and so many times it is the fad diets and teenagers that is worrisome. There are so many different diets out there making incredible promises of dropping pounds and inches without having to change a thing in your life. Teenagers being as impatient as they are, especially when it comes to improving body image, will try anything that sounds quick and easy.

As parents, we need to make sure that our teenagers are doing everything they can to take care of themselves. This includes watching out for those fad diets that target teenagers. While not all diets are bad ones, the eating programs that guarantee immediate results with little to no effort, are definitely the ones to avoid.

Some of the most popular fad diets currently include diet pills. These pills range from totally worthless to very dangerous. The price tag is pretty steep for most of the “miracle” ones. Yet, everyday fad diets and teenagers make millions of dollars for the weight loss companies. Our society would have us believe that “thin is beautiful,” whether it is healthy or not.

Teenagers already have a hard time with self image just because they ARE teenagers. Even the most attractive kids can have poor self images. So if a teenager happens to be a few pounds over weight, the first thing they do is head to the diet counter. It doesn’t matter to them how they get the weight off, as long as it happens. They also don’t consider the fact that the faster the weight comes off, the faster it will reappear.

Not all diets are fads. Some are even good weight loss programs. Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, and NutriSystem all have good success rates for people who use them to lose weight. However, fad diets attract teenagers more than structured systems. Losing weight takes time if it is done correctly and the weight will remain gone through a learned maintenance routine. But teenagers are not known for their patience.

There are things we can do to make sure our teenagers are healthy. What they eat when they are away from home is not something you can control. It is what they eat when they ARE at home that is important. Healthy eating habits should begin at home and if you have instilled some of these in your child, you will not have to worry so much about fad diets and YOUR teenager.
