Well, perhaps Nokia, the world leader in the arena of mobile handset manufacturers, will never cease to surprise us. Just when we thought that the ultimate is here and will stay for a while Nokia tops it up with offerings that are technologically superior and aesthetically pleasing. This time round its Nokia N97, a smart phone cum personal computer that is right up there in the same league as Apple’s iPhone and Blackberry Storm.
With a tilting touch screen display, a full QWERTY keyboard, easy access to Internet and large inbuilt and expandable memory; it has got something for everyone. For the aficionado, the music and video capabilities of the phone are a complete delight and so are the camera functions. And lest we forget to mention, the phone is complete beauty waiting to take your breath away with its metal finish and stunning looks.

• The phone’s dimensions are 117.2 x 55.3 x 15.9 mm with an approximate weight of 150 gm.
• It has 32 GB of on-board memory which is further expandable by 16 GB using micro SD memory card slot.
• The display is a 3.5 inch TFT display with 640 X 360 pixels on a 16:9 widescreen.
• The phone allows both haptic feedback and through a full sliding QWERTY keyboard.
• The phone boasts of Carl Zeiss Tessar lens and dual LED flash for image capturing up to 5 megapixels.
• Running on a 1500 milliamp battery the phone supports up to 400 minutes of talk time and up to 430 hours of standby time on a full charge.
• It has video playback of up to 4.5 hours and music playback of 37 hours on offline mode.
Other Features
The phone provides DVD quality video capture and is extremely convenient for streaming flash videos and playing games. It fits snugly in the palm of the hand and you can carry all your data and documents on the move. But where the Nokia N97 truly scores over its predecessors and competition is in its web browsing capabilities. The phone offers you a fully personalized home page where you can add, edit or remove widgets for the services and sites you frequent on the Internet.
This device offers you the concept of ‘social location’ wherein it utilizes the built-in A-GPS sensors and electronic compass to determine your location and share it with people on your friend list on a real-time basis. It also enables you to geo-tag all the photographs and videos you take through its Carl Zeiss lens. The touch screen is quite responsive and Nokia has made a conscious effort to remove the problems associated with the touch screens of the previous generations.
The user interface has also been simplified and has host of features to ensure smooth and comfortable navigation. The keys on the keyboard are slightly small but the handset has been made keeping in mind a generation that has now became accustomed to small keyboards on a mobile phone.
